The Messiah Orchestra plays hope for global neighbors!
The World Mission Society Church of God[wmscog] prepares a meaningful event to help global neighbors in difficulties and to deliver hope to them through a musical performance, apart from introducing Korea through the overseas visiting group program.

On Dec. 20, 2011(1 p.m.) and 21(1 p.m. & 7 p.m.), the Church of God Messiah Orchestra is going to hold a concert at the gymnasium in Suwon Sports Complex. They are planning to deliver hope to the earthquake victims in Turkey and the flood victims in Thailand. Through this concert, the Church of God wishes to lead the domestic and international communities to have interest in Turkey and Thailand, and create an atmosphere to help them in various ways. The Church will make a donation for the victims of the two countries, who are trembling in fear for the disasters beyond men’s control.

In this concert, familiar classical music such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 (1st mov.), Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2, and William Tell Overture, and traditional Korean songs like Arirang and Longing for Mt. Kumkang will be performed. And New Songs―O Eternal Eden, All You, The Staff of Moses, and Pass Thru the Red Sea―which praise the power of God, will also be played. Besides these, accompanied performance with barbershop quartet that is soft and deep will be performed. These various repertories will move the audience and give hope to our neighbors in difficulties.

It is not the first time that this Church helps the international community. Last year, the Church held the concert to help the earthquake victims of Haiti in Busan KBS Hall, and the concert to help the earthquake victims of Chile in Yeomju Gym, Gwanju. After the concerts, Kim Joo-cheol, the General Pastor of the Church of God, visited the UN Headquarters in New York and delivered a donation of 100,000 dollars to the UN Central Emergency Response Fund. At that time, the UN was greatly pleased with the Church’s interest and support for the international community, and asked for constant partnerships.

Especially, Amir Dossal, the Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Partnerships, said that the UN believed that the Church of God would be able to change the world, and wished that the UN and the Church of God would cooperate with each other.

#The Church of God started in Korea and has spread to the whole world. The Church believes in God the Father and God the Mother as well on the basis of the Bible, and keeps the seven feasts in three times including the Sabbath and the Passover. It is also famous for various volunteer activities that practice the love of Christ. Especially the Passover, which is celebrated on the 14th day of the first month by the sacred calendar (Jewish calendar), is the core truth of the Church of God; they say the Passover is the feast of salvation through which people are protected from disasters.

According to the records of the New Testament, Jesus celebrated the Passover with his disciples through the bread and wine before he was sacrificed on the cross 2,000 years ago, and promised them eternal life and the forgiveness of sins. The Church of God is the only church that keeps the Passover today, according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and has 1,900 branch churches in 150 countries including Korea. As a single church, it is the largest church in Korea.
